Mrs. Stephanie

Stephanie Govich has spent the last 30 years sharing her passion for dance with students of all ages and experience. During her career in NYC, she was on faculty at the prestigious Broadway Dance Center and New Dance Group Arts Center and was a guest choreographer for the Arts in Motion Dance Company of NYC. Since returning to Oklahoma, she has taught Jazz for the University of Oklahoma’s Weitzenhoffer School of Musical Theatre; Tap and Ballet for Lyric Theatre’s Thelma Gaylord Academy for the Performing Arts; Jazz, Tap, Ballet and Pointe for Dance Unlimited; and Technique and Tap for The Studio at Sooner Theatre. She has also been contracted to choreograph musical productions at Lyric Theatre, Sooner Theatre, Norman North and Heritage Hall.
Stephanie has had versatile training and performance experiences encompassing Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Pointe. She has shared the stage with New York City Ballet principal dancers, Nilas Martins and Wendy Whalen, has tapped with the legend Savion Glover at the St. Louis Tap Festival, attended the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute in Modern Dance, worked with Frank Chaves from River North Dance Chicago and was principal dancer with Royal Caribbean International. Stephanie holds a B.A. in Dance Education from the University of Central Oklahoma where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and received the Department of Education’s Most Outstanding Student award. Upon graduation, Stephanie was awarded a scholarship to study dance at Broadway Dance Center in New York. While at BDC, Stephanie worked with many influential names in the dance industry including Kat Wildish, Germaine Salsberg, Shea Sullivan and Ginger Cox. Stephanie also makes regular trips to Los Angeles to continue her education in dance at EDGE PAC so that she can bring the most up to date techniques and training to her students in Oklahoma.
In the Competition circuit, Stephanie has had first hand experience when she served as a judge for Dancers Competition US Tour, and has coached dancers who have consistently taken top honors.
Stephanie’s students have been seen on Broadway, Papermill Playhouse, North Shore Music Theatre, Music Theatre of Wichita and Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, among others.
Stephanie lives in Norman with her husband, Mat, and her two amazing daughters Mila and Jelena.
