Competition Hair and Makeup
**IMPORTANT HAIR NOTES - IN ADDITION, PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT ALL HAIR IS SLICKED BACK (IT SHOULD BE HARD TO THE TOUCH) in their bun. No fly-aways.
**IMPORTANT COSTUME NOTES - To prepare costumes for dress rehearsal, please label your dancers name on a tag inside of the costume. Also, if there are any tags that might show, SPECIFICALLY UNDER MESH, please cut them out before dress rehearsal. This is a very common note that we give at dress rehearsal.

FAQ's
Frequently Asked Questions
“Do I leave my child’s bangs out?”
No, you need to spray these back and pull off the face. Please secure hair with crossing bobby pins that match your child’s hair color. NO hair clips to secure please.
"What if my dancer has curly hair?"
Please make sure the hair is slicked back and brushed straight. Since hair is in a bun, it is not necessary to completely straighten the ponytail before putting hair into the bun.
"Why is my eyeshadow not showing much pigment on my dancer?”
A good quality eyeshadow palette will show better pigmentation, and although pricier, will work better/last longer on skin.
“Can I use a fake hairpiece?”
No, no fake hairpieces allowed. Although these seem alluring and much easier for parents, they are often more work to secure onto a dancer’s head-and can cause a major distraction to the dancer and/or audience if not done properly. Further, if we decide to do hairpieces in the future, it will be something we do as a TEAM requirement. This ensures uniformity throughout and will be supervised by your teacher for proper placement.
"How do I get my child’s lipstick to stay on better?”
Start with DRY clean lips (no products on). Apply 1-2 coats of Maybelline SuperStay color matte ink lip stain. NO OTHER PRODUCTS ON TOP, as this will break down the matte and cause flaking. Just set it and forget it :)
"What should I have on hand with me during competitions?”
Parents often carry a small travel case or a fanny pack for emergencies/touch ups! It’s a great idea to have things like lipstick, makeup wipes, setting powder, bobby pins, safety pins, mini hairspray, bandaids, and Kleenex on you. We may not have time to go back to the dressing room in an emergency!
"Do I need a setting spray?”
Yes! Setting sprays work amazing to keep makeup in place on little faces. You will have less to touch up and more time to enjoy watching your dancer!
