When: Sunday, May 21, 2023
2:15-2:45 (ages 6-8) 2:45-3:30 (ages 9-11) 3:30-4:30 (ages 12-14) 4:30-5:30 (ages 14 & up) * Dancers should audition with their age group as of Sept. 1st, 2023. Audition material: dancers should be prepared to learn a short combination at the audition, and will also be asked to perform skills such as jumps, leaps and turns. They do not need to have anything prepared in advance. What to wear: Wear any dance attire, and bring all dance shoes. There is not an audition required for dancers interested in Pre-Company. However, we will have an evaluation day in August so that we can best group the dancers based on their level. Evaluation day will be followed by two days of choreography.

Summer Requirements
Summer Classes
All dancers on our competition team (both new and returning dancers) are required to attend 16 hours of classes in June and July. Dancers can attend intensives and/or weekly classes to fulfill these hours. Dancers can mix and match classes and intensives to meet the 16 hours.
*Enrollment in Nutcracker classes (not camp) WILL count towards their required classes. If they are attending one nutcracker class a week, that will count towards 6 hours. Two Nutcracker classes count towards 12 hours.
** Enrollment in our themed one week summer camps DO NOT count towards their class requirements.
Summer Choreography Sessions
In addition to summer classes, dancers will be required to attend choreography sessions for each of their group dances they are cast in for the 2022-23 competition season. Parents will be able to provide their dancer's summer availability on the audition form. We will schedule each group to learn their choreography during June, July, or August. These choreography dates will be set and announced once we have received all of the availability back from each person auditioning.

New Parent Info Meeting
We will also have a new parent informational meeting on Friday, May 5th at 6:00 p.m. This meeting is not necessary for current competition parents. It is meant for interested families to learn more about our competition team and have any questions answered.
Nationals 2024 Q&A Meeting
We will be holding a parent nationals meeting on Friday, May 5th at 6:45 p.m. The purpose of this meeting will be for you to be able to provide input to Stephanie regarding a nationals location, and be able to ask any questions that you might have. If you are unable to attend the meeting, but would like to email any questions, concerns, etc, please feel free to do so PRIOR to May 5th. The goal is to have a location and date finalized BEFORE auditions on May 21st.
General Requirements
CompanyCompany members must take Ballet, Jazz, and Technique classes from September-May. Teen level company dancers must also take an additional class in a supplementary style (Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Pointe, Acro, etc). All company dancers meet one extra class per week to rehearse their competition dances. Currently younger dancers rehearse on Fridays and older dancers on Sundays. Some dancers will rehearse on Wednesdays depending on their choreography groups.
We attend 3 required competitions per year. We also offer dancers the option to go to Nationals each year, either in Oklahoma or in our region. |
Pre-CompanyPre-Company dancers must be enrolled in a Ballet/Tap Combo class as well as committing to meet one extra class per week to rehearse their competition dance. Typically our pre-company rehearsals are held on Fridays.
Pre-Company dancers are required to attend 2 competitions per year. |
Company Handbook
The handbook for our 2022-23 competition season is attached to this email. Please read over this for reference. The handbook WILL BE REVISED FOR THE 2023-24 SEASON. But, this one includes a variety of information, and can answer many questions.
* One of the big considerations with joining our competition team in 2023-24 is whether they will attend nationals, a national competition in the summer of 2024. This WILL NOT be required for the 2023-2024 competition team, however it is highly encouraged. Ultimately, we do not want to exclude anyone from competition team due to the cost or time commitment of nationals, but we see the value of attending a competition like this both individually and for our team as a whole. Please take time to consider if this is something you can commit to. Nationals is tentatively scheduled for the last week in June in Destin, FL. Competition schedules have not been announced yet for the 2023-2024 season, so please keep in mind that the Nationals date could change.
